Brahmastra: The Most Deadly Nuclear Weapon Of India

You must have heard the religious stories or seen many serials or movies related to Hindu Gods, in which gods and goddesses would be seen using different weapons. Actually, every deity had some weapon according to their power through which they used to protect religion and kill demons.

Apart from this, those weapons could be obtained by worshipping those gods and goddesses. The most powerful of all those weapons and which had the power to end the whole world was the Brahmastra made by Brahma ji.

It was not an ordinary weapon but it had the power of today’s atomic bomb, which would destroy its target completely and there was no life for thousands of years after that. The use of this weapon has been mentioned many times in the Ramayana and Mahabharata. Today we will know in detail about this Brahmastra (Brahmand Astra).

What Is Brahmastra?

Brahmastra was a nuclear weapon that was created by Brahma Ji. Lord Brahma was a great scientist and he had complete knowledge of science and scriptures. He created this weapon by mixing all the energies of the world.

It is mainly made up of two weapons:

• Brahmshira Astra: There are four faces around Brahma Ji and there is a crown on top. At the tip of this crown, this Brahmashira weapon is present in the form of the fifth face of Brahma. It is so powerful that it has the amazing power to destroy the whole world. It was created by using and aggregating all kinds of powers of the world.
• Brahmdand: This Brahmdand Astra was also created by Brahma Ji with the aim of preventing the misuse of Brahmshira Astra. It is also as powerful as the Brahmashira weapon. We can call it an antinuclear weapon.

When these two weapons are mixed, then it has been given the name of Brahmastra, which is almost impossible to stop.

Why Was The Brahmastra Created?

Brahma ji is called the creator of Hinduism and human civilization. Therefore, to protect Dharma (Religion) and truth, he had created a powerful weapon like Brahmastra which can be used in rare of rarest cases.

Plus not everyone can get this Brahmastra. One has to worship lord Brahma for years with a pure heart then only he can get this. One can also get this from his Guru (Teacher). In old times, Gurus were only related to the Brahmins caste which is believed to be Brahm’s descendants (Some exceptional cases).

Not every Guru was having this as well. The Guru who has achieved special powers from his meditation or devotion may be having this weapon. So he can give this weapon to his favorite student whom he believes in the goodwill of religion.

How could the Brahmastra be used?

Not everyone could use it and it could be achieved by doing special Sadhna (meditation or devotion) for its use. A special mantra had to be chanted to run it. For example, in the war of Mahabharata, Karna tried to use the Brahmastra on Arjuna, but due to the curse given by Maharishi Parashurama, he forgot the mantra and could not use it.

Once it is charged and ready, then it can’t be taken back. It means, no one can stop it after getting ready or charged. For example, when Shri Ram charged Brahmastra when he was angry at the god of the sea then he also can’t take it back. So he fired Brahmastra at Rajasthan where there is Thar desert now. But the Brahmshira Astra can be taken back by chanting the right mantra.

Brahmastra Effects

It was such a powerful and destructive weapon that one had to think many times before using it as it could cause great destruction. Let us know some of its features and the power of Brahmastra:

• Brahmashira Astra is considered to be more powerful than Brahmastra which is also the fifth face of Brahma ji.
• It was an absolutely infallible weapon, that is, any target on which it is released, that target will be completely destroyed and it will not be missed.
• Wherever Brahmastra falls, it turns into a ball of fire and there is a fierce fire around and various types of harmful chemicals are spread.
• Due to this, no animal, plant, tree or anything is left in that area, whether it is the sea or the mountain, everything gets destroyed.
• Its wrath is so terrible that for at least 12 years no life can arise again on that earth. Even the unborn child dies in the womb.
• There are cracks in the earth at that place and there is no rain for years and the sun is not visible, due to which there is a severe drought.
• It was created by absorbing the energy of every single substance in the entire universe, making it a very destructive weapon.
• It was the last weapon used in a major war for the purpose of protecting Dharma and Truth.
• When two Brahmastras collide with each other, it will cause a terrible crisis in front of the whole world.
• It will not have any effect on Lord Shiva, Adishakti (Main Goddess), Lord Vishnu and Sheshnag.

How Many Times Brahmastra Was Used In History

We will divide it into 2 parts, one for firing the Brahmashira weapon and the other one for the Brahmastra.

Who used Brahmashirsha Astra

• It was first used by Brahmarishi Vishwamitra in anger against Maharishi Vashistha. But Maharishi Vashistha was saved because he was having a Brahmdand Astra (Antinuclear weapon). The Brahmdanda had stopped it by containing the Brahmshira weapon inside itself.
• Lord Shri Ram had fired Brahmadand to cut off Kumbhkaran’s head (Demon Ravan’s small brother) during the battle, which led to his death.
• After the war of Mahabharata, to avenge the death of his father Guru Dronacharya, Ashwathama started the Brahmashira Astra with the aim of destroying the Pandavas. On the other side, Arjuna also started and aimed Brahmashira Astra at Ashwathama. Seeing this, Narada muni and Maharishi Ved Vyas ordered both of them to take back these weapons. Arjuna took back his weapon but Ashwathama did not know how to take it back. So, he fired it on the sea near Dwarka city. Due to its radioactive waves, all the unborn babies died in their’s mother’s womb. The last descendant of Pandavas who was also in her mother’s womb was saved by Lord Krishna.

Who used Brahmastra Weapon

• Pipplad, the son of Maharishi Dadhichi, was hurt by the death of his father who sacrificed his life for Devta’s protection, so he pointed Brahmastra on Shani Dev. Then in order to protect his life, Shani Dev had taken a vow that he would never disturb any child below the age of 12 years.
• In the Ramayana period, Ravana’s son Indrajit (Meghnath) had run it on Hanuman when he was burning Lanka, but Hanuman ji had a boon from Lord Brahma, due to which it had no effect on him.
• When Lord Rama and Mother Sita were in Chitrakoot, Jayant, the son of Lord Indra, had bitten Mother Sita in many places by becoming a crow. Lord Rama was so angry seeing Mother Sita was bleeding that he pointed the Brahmastra at Jayant. Jayant sought alms from Lord Rama for his life, due to which only his right eye was torn.
• When Lord Rama wanted to cross the sea with his monkey army and go to Lanka but Samudra Dev was not giving him any way. Angered by this, Lord Rama had pointed the Brahmastra on the sea, but he was calm after asking for forgiveness from the sea god Varuna and he left it at a place called Dhrumtulya in Rajasthan, where today there is a vast desert Thar.
• Lakshmana used the Brahmastra to kill Ravana’s son Atikaya.
• In the fierce battle between Indrajit and Lakshmana, Lakshman thought of using Brahmastra on Indrajit, but Lord Rama explained to him that it is not appropriate to use it now because it will end the whole army of Lanka.
• In the last war between Lakshman and Meghnath, it was fired by Meghnath on Lakshmana. Since Lakshmana himself was an incarnation of Sheshnag, it returned without harming him.
• It was used by Lord Shri Ram in the last war between Lord Rama and the demon Ravana, which destroyed Ravana and his army.

Thus Brahmastra was the most powerful, destructive and wonderful weapon made by Brahma ji, which was an atomic bomb of that time. It is known as the biggest weapon in our history and there is no mention of its full use anywhere. Whenever it was used, only a part of it was fired. The entire Brahmastra was only with Brahma ji which is with him as his fifth face.
